Questions

When should I plant leeks in California?

In San Jose, plant out from December 19 to January 2. Across California the window opens between December 18 and December 17, depending on the local last frost.

How is this date worked out?

Start seeds indoors 10–12 weeks before the last frost; plant out up to 2 weeks before the last frost. Frost dates are NOAA 1991–2020 averages for the weather station nearest each city.
